Starting Apr 1, UPI cash withdrawals at HDFC Bank ATMs to be part of free transaction limit

HDFC Bank recently announced that UPI cash withdrawals at ATMs would be included as part of your monthly free ATM transaction limit. After the free limit is exhausted, a fee of ₹23 plus taxes per withdrawal will apply, bank intimated to its customers over emails sent on .

The private lender had announced in May last year that five withdrawal transactions would be free across all cities in HDFC Bank ATMs for savings/salary accounts.

No limit

For savings max accounts, there is no limit on ATM withdrawals for HDFC Bank ATMs whereas there are 15 free transactions in non bank ATMs.

In case of current accounts, there is no limit on ATM withdrawals at HDFC Bank ATMs and at non-HDFC Bank ATMs, there are 3 or 5 transactions which are free in top 6 cities or non-top 6 cities, respectively.

For HDFC Bank customers, domestic ATM transactions done post 7:30 PM will be considered as next day’s transaction. On the last day of the month, ATM transactions done post 7:30 PM would be considered in the subsequent month. Transactions identified for charging post completion of prescribed free limits would be computed basis the above cut off timings.

Additionally, ATM transaction charges are not applicable for Imperia, Preferred & Classic variant of accounts, reads the bank's statement.

“Effective 1st April 2026, UPI cash withdrawals at ATMs/CRMs are included as part of above free limits. Customers wouldbe charged at ₹23+taxes post completion of free limit,” the statement reads further.
